Operation Brock
Operation Brock and Dover traffic
Operation Brock keeps the M20 open when Channel crossings are disrupted, by holding lorries bound for the Port of Dover and Eurotunnel on the M20. Here: whether it shows in the live data, and what is happening on the roads to Dover.
Accidents and incidents in England are not shown right now: National Highways' sign feed is not answering, and its closures feed carries roadworks only.
National Highways is not responding, so events in England may be missing.

How Operation Brock works
Operation Brock is a contraflow on the M20 between junction 8 (Maidstone) and junction 9 (Ashford). A moveable concrete barrier is set up, usually overnight, so that traffic uses the London-bound carriageway in both directions, while lorries heading for mainland Europe are directed onto the coastbound carriageway, where they can be queued if needed.
It acts as a pressure valve when crossings are disrupted, and is also put in place ahead of the busiest holiday periods, such as Easter and the summer getaway.
